Althoff, Edith

Performer, entertainer and composer, Edith Althoff specialized in novelty piano solos. By 1920 the technically difficult novelty rag, or novelty piano music, was the rage, more frequently played at home from a roll on the immensely popular player piano than executed by the average player from a printed sheet.
